This spoken word piece includes a repurposing of video clips originally made as saleable content for my personal Xhamster page, herein presenting the pornographised body within an artistic context. Therefore, this is another 'meta' work - like 'Bump 'n Grind' and 'Lilith of the Valley' - a work about sex work, featuring material produced in the pursuit of sex work (as 'Lilith' is a webcam show about webcam shows, 'Bump' is a burlesque performance about burlesque performance).
My borderline intervention into the porn industry rather than "wholesale engagement" - being not popular, or famous, yet regularly admired, downloaded (probably re-uploaded elsewhere), observed and paid to entertain. There are therefore elements of Shirley, Sprinkle and indeed Howard (subverting the industry from the inside), so this refers to concepts discussed across the whole thesis.
Even with the explicit milieu of the intervensions of video performance, ambiguity is maintained - with certain poses which would be traditional for a female performer to show everything, but in this case, obscures as much as it shows.
Within the work the choice of the artist to present themselves in an explicit form, in reality, whilst interposed within a fantasy/fictional self-insertion to a historical past that the artist was not, and could never have been, involved with. The themes of voyeurism, exposure, audience, and transgression, however, remain the same - whether created for the online digital age, or with reference to a bygone world of theatres and cinemas.
