'2 Minutes of Sketchy Noises'

Suggested by John Lydon's famous description of sex as "two minutes of squelchy noises", this short audio piece compresses six months of online sex work into two minutes - a cross-section of live chatroom text comments given spoken-word form by automatic computer voices. These bland, emotionless tones act as a controlled element against the tense, charged sexual situations described in the improvised - sometimes even comical - typed comments and solicitations. The occasionally surreal overlap of statements signifies the randomness of a public chatroom environment, in which opening greetings and other salutations intersperse with flowing florid descriptions and in-progress fantasies.

The screenshots depict the actual conversations and comments from which the audio clips are derived.

This audio work may, in time, become the soundtrack to a video or performance work.
